Noisy Frogs!
Illustration Process
As children, we are taught that frogs ribbit, but there are so many other sounds they make. Noisy Frogs! began as a poem to describe those wonderful words and evolved with a three-fold mission: to raise ecological awareness, teach new sound words, and induce giggling. My illustrations create the main storyline, where two amphibian-loving siblings imagine what it's like to be frogs as they discover that frogs do not just sit on lily pads and say "ribbit".

I begin my illustration process with rough ideation sketches, first for main characters and then for scene composition.

I then carefully plan out thumbnails for the entire book.

I design these with the correct proportions to the final product.

Then I import those thumbnails into Photoshop, hand-drawing line work and layered colors. Before I even begin, I format my document to the size and resolution required for printing.

Step by step, I refine my rough sketches into final illustrations.

Noisy Frogs! is currently still in production, but you can preview the book below.
