The Hungry Snails
Illustration Process




I begin my illustration process with rough ideation sketches, first for main characters and then for scene composition.



With some serious storming of the brain, I carefully plan out thumbnails for the entire book. ​
Then I use the thumbnail sketches as a guide to compose full page spreads. Before I even begin, I format my document to the size and resolution required for printing.

Little by little, I refine my crazy doodles into polished illustrations.





I do this for the interior spreads, the front and back covers, and anywhere else that needs artwork, placing text last. I check it over 5 billion times and at last submit my files for print. All this results in a beautiful book:
